Talk of ‘Peace’



He had had enough. Negato had suffered his whole life. He longed for peace. He loathed this constant war. So why was he fighting? Why was he trying so hard to protect his village? His people? His organization?

“What is it you want with us?” he growled. A black figure emerged from the shadows, his fangs gleaming from his incoherent laughter.

“Why so hasty?” the dark figure asked. Deva Pain growled again, his head down, claws raised from the ground. “Now now, I’m not here to be a bother,” he grinned, baring his very white fangs again, as if to taunt Pain with his grin alone.
“Leave this place. You have no business here..”

“I’m not sure id say that,” the dark wolf replied. Faster than even the Rinnegan could predict, the dark wolf charged Pain to the ground. He grunted, satisfied with his victory. Pain pushed his claws along the gravel beneath him, contemplating. ’Is it even worth getting up?’ he thought. ‘I thought I was fighting for peace. Not just fighting…’

“I can help you with your ideals, Nagato…” Pain’s ears pricked upwards sharply, eyes widening. He looked up, only to find the other had disappeared. He heard the faint cackle of the darker wolf, still taunting, but still he made no effort to push himself off the ground.

“You’re learning boy,” he said beyond the shadows. “I can redeem your ‘peace’…”
“My peace was never real…”

“You crave to be whole again, in a place you belong. To heal your wounds, to have belonging, and companionship… love… and inside these things you think your pain will disappear. Without pain, without war, without hatred… you obtain peace. These are your thoughts, correct?”

Pain’s eyes widened slowly during the dark one’s speech. He pushed his chest up from the ground, glancing deeply into the darkness.

“Without me you are nothing…” He pounced from the shadows again, crashing Pain back onto the solid earth. Pain looked into his eyes; blood red, black, spinning, dancing. Like he was staring into another world. A world beyond his own. A world of blood and… pain… He watched the carnage before him in awe.

“Do you see a light? of course not. There is no hope for this world, boy. There is poison on the lips of everyone alive. Even the most peaceful being has had devious thoughts. I knew a boy a lot like you. Thought he could obtain peace… make a better life for his family, his village, his world… I got to him before he did something stupid. He told me ‘I will not succumb to your lies…’ but staring into his young eyes I saw the lives he had already taken. His carnage… He needed guidance;” He lent down to Pain’s ear slowly. “And that night, we killed off the infamous Uchiha Clan!”

Pain’s muscles tensed under the darker wolf, prepared to attack, however the darker had clutched his throat in his white jaws. Pain flinched.

“You… used him… abused him, and now you want to make me believe your methods of obtaining peace is to destroy further? Its madness…”

“Oh? But were you not struggling just now? I think you are highly confused, Nagato… No one can know true peace, without knowing true fear… seeing true carnage… feeling true pain. You fight me, but that is not peace, is it now, Nagato? But in defeating me, you feel peace restored in you. An annoyance leaving this world. The destruction of one thing to make another peaceful. But you may be hurting another to find that peace. Imagine this on a mass scale and you have war. You have pain, carnage, blood, fear. But when it is all over… there is peace for the living…” The dark wolf pushed off from Pain’s back, walking calmly from his lying form. Pain watched him walk.

“…Wait,” he called. The darker wolf stopped and grinned.

“I shall lead your ‘organization, Pain. I shall help you gather minions with similar intent. A world of peace at day break…”

“Akatsuki…”

“…We were meant to live for so much more… So much more indeed…”

knock knock “What is it?”
“I have a new recruit…” a young, dark wolf with scars under his dark, hungry eyes entered.
“He is a child…” the boy glared at Pain, his eyes suddenly changing shade.
“Why am I here… Madara…” he said.
“Pain… This child… is Uchiha Itachi…”
